The molar enthalpy (heat) of vaporization ∆vapH, which is defined as the enthalpy change in the conversion of one mole of liquid to gas at constant temperature, is tabulated here for about 950 inorganic and organic compounds. Values are given, when available, both at the normal boiling point tb, referred to a pressure of 101.325 kPa (760 mmHg), and at 25 °C.
The values in this table were measured either by calorimetric techniques or by application of the Claperyon equation to the variation of vapor pressure with temperature. See Ref. 1 for a discussion of the accuracy of different experimental techniques and methods of estimating enthalpy of vaporization at other temperatures. Several of the references present empirical techniques for correlating enthalpy of vaporization with molecular structure.
