This table gives selected values of elastic constants for single crystals. The values believed most reliable were selected from the original literature. The substances are arranged by crystal system and, within each system, alphabetically by name. A reference to the original literature is given for each value; a useful compilation of published values from many sources may be found in Ref. 1. Different crystal types are covered in the tables as follows, which have different numbers of independent elastic constants Cij depending on crystal symmetry.
Table No. | Crystal Type | Elastic Constants included |
1 | Cubic | C11, C12, C44 |
2 | Tetragonal | C11, C12, C13, C16, C33, C44, C66 |
3 | Orthorhombic | C11, C12, C13, C22, C23, C33, C44, C55, C66 |
4a | Monoclinic | C11, C12, C13, C15, C22, C23 |
4b | Monoclinic | C25, C33, C35, C44, C46, C55, C66 |
5 | Hexagonal | C11, C12, C13, C33, C55 |
6 | Trigonal | C11, C12, C13, C14, C33, C44 |
Column definitions for the tables are as follows.

Mol. form. | Molecular formula of the single crystal |
ρ | Density |
T | Temperature at which the elastic constant is measured, in K |
Cnm, etc. | Elastic constants, in units of 1011 N m-2, for the single crystal; refer to table above for range of n and m included for each crystal type |
